Metahuman Relighting Challenge
As part of a little discord competition put on by Connor Buchanan, I recreated a frame of Saoirse Ronan in Wes Anderson's The Grand Budapest Hotel (shot by Robert Yeoman, ASC). The challenge was a combination of rebuilding a metahuman for likeness but also a test of lighting and overall aesthetic tweaks to match the source image. I spent an hour or so on the metahuman, and maybe another two hours on the lighting. Built in Unreal Engine with Path Tracer, it was fun to study the small intricacies in the lighting that helped to recreate the look.
